Fuel Consumption Calculator

Usage Instructions:

Objective: Calculate the fuel consumption of your vehicle.

Steps:

  1. Enter Distance Traveled: Input the distance traveled in kilometers.
  2. Enter Fuel Used: Input the amount of fuel used in liters.
  3. Click the "Calculate" Button: After entering the distance and fuel, click the "Calculate" button to get the fuel consumption.
  4. View the Result: The fuel consumption in liters per 100 kilometers will be displayed in the results section.

Purpose: Fuel consumption measures how much fuel a vehicle uses over a certain distance. It helps you understand your vehicle’s efficiency and plan your fuel budget.

How to Calculate Fuel Consumption

  1. Gather Information:
    • Distance Traveled: The total distance traveled, measured in kilometers or miles.
    • Fuel Used: The amount of fuel consumed during that distance, measured in liters or gallons.
  2. Calculate Fuel Consumption:
    • For Metric Units:
      • Fuel Consumption (liters per 100 kilometers) = (Fuel Used (liters) / Distance Traveled (kilometers)) × 100
    • For Imperial Units:
      • Fuel Consumption (miles per gallon) = Distance Traveled (miles) / Fuel Used (gallons)

Example Calculations

1. Metric Units

  • Example:
    • Distance Traveled: 500 kilometers
    • Fuel Used: 40 liters
    • Calculation:
      • Fuel Consumption = (40 / 500) × 100 = 8 liters per 100 kilometers

2. Imperial Units

  • Example:
    • Distance Traveled: 300 miles
    • Fuel Used: 15 gallons
    • Calculation:
      • Fuel Consumption = 300 / 15 = 20 miles per gallon

Quick Reference Table

Here’s a table to help visualize fuel consumption for various distances and fuel used:

Distance Traveled (km) Fuel Used (liters) Fuel Consumption (L/100 km)
100 5 5
200 12 6
300 18 6
400 28 7
Distance Traveled (miles) Fuel Used (gallons) Fuel Consumption (mpg)
100 5 20
200 10 20
300 15 20
400 20 20

Why Calculate Fuel Consumption?

  • Budgeting: Helps estimate how much you’ll spend on fuel for trips.
  • Efficiency Monitoring: Provides insights into how efficiently your vehicle is operating.
  • Environmental Impact: Helps assess your vehicle’s environmental footprint based on fuel efficiency.
